1.6 Won't somebody think of the robots

Has it been the universal experience aboard that artificial intelligence not specifically brought as a warden or inmate is de-volved to non-sentience-- or replaced by a non-sentient version thereof?

Has anyone developed an artificial intelligence aboard and noticed this effect?

Those who come in the company of non-warden, non-inmate Artificial Intelligence and notice that their companions' facilities are lesser-- is the phenomenon they witness due to modification of the original AI, or replacement of their AI with a reasonable facsimile?

As assistants or aids. I haven't seen the phenomenon in action because my household robots aren't here-- and not all of my robots may be capable of true sentience. I know of two examples, Zev Bellringer's robotic head, and Tony Stark's Jarvis intelligence-- both which I believe were reported to seem less autonomous.

I don't know. I'm not privy to most of the admiral's decision, but the phenomenon will have repercussions on my work.

It is possible that the admiral desires that no sentient individuals be aboard who are not specifically recruited wardens or inmates, and consequently replaces familiar AIs with limited replicas.

If the Admiral is to ascertain parameters with regards to Artificial Intelligent beings, I would think it relevant to our interests.

I think the datapoint would be more useful if I could ask the un-altered robots in their home universes-- those aboard may be unable to perceive their nature.

That is not necessary. I do not require sustenance of that nature to maintain my power levels.

Whatever wasn't brought aboard as a warden or inmate is subject to aging and only death tolls on request, without reverting.

It's also possible for women to become pregnant but it doesn't happen too often. Anyone who has has left. A child's never been born aboard the ship.

But the Doctor had a responsive, sentient dog. The one in the scarf, anyway.

I was left with the early construction of an android-- a dear and departed barge warden entrusted the project to me with the stipulation that it must under no circumstances be an Ascenion robot.

Both your technical skill and aid and your insight into what it is to be a programmatic intelligence, and what knowledge and capacity is necessary to ethically construct such a being, would be of great value to me.

My choice comes from two factors.

First that you are intelligent and well educated in destruction. Literally no position aboard this vessel would be benign if you set your mind to causing harm. As my assistant at least I would have the ability to supervise you regularly.

Secondly, I feel it would be beneficial to you-- and to me, as a long-time conservative Ascenion roboticist unschooled in the rights of the creation as much as the creator-- to give you the chance to prevent mistreatment of another programmatic intelligence.

Agent Kay is correct. The Doctor brought K9 on board with him and he seemed to retain his original, annoying personality.

The TARDISes are sentient as well, and maintained their sentience. And mine certainly recalls leaving and returning to the Barge. TARDISes are rather unique technology, however.

Fascinating; does your Tardis report any attempt to decrease its faculties, any tampering?

There are none that I'm aware of and I monitor her fairly closely.

For a while we had quite a collection of them on board. Floods and other Barge disruptions did sometimes affect them, however. Including leaving them temporarily disabled.

The reports of diminished intelligence and autonomy are somewhat worrying to me. I've requested information from the admiral.
