1.6 Won't somebody think of the robots

Has it been the universal experience aboard that artificial intelligence not specifically brought as a warden or inmate is de-volved to non-sentience-- or replaced by a non-sentient version thereof?

Has anyone developed an artificial intelligence aboard and noticed this effect?

[She's worried about activating Android Baby while aboard. It's probably going to be safer to wait until she's in her own universe.]

Those who come in the company of non-warden, non-inmate Artificial Intelligence and notice that their companions' facilities are lesser-- is the phenomenon they witness due to modification of the original AI, or replacement of their AI with a reasonable facsimile?

[Vasilia read Lore's file very quickly-- then again, slower. She went through fear, distress, sadness, depression, fear again, and vast painful empathy in quick succession.

There's something of all of those in her voice, but she summons up a serene countenance and all her Auroran social graces. Pleasant, but not effusive.]

[The last port had sounded... traumatic. Indeed, five years later it brings back Vasilia's memories of Sanitarium Island quite clearly, and that only from listening to network traffic.

It's getting more difficult to restrain her homesickness. And the lack of her household robots, each in their way individual and attuned to her, is never more pronounced.

She desperately needs to talk Robotics.]

For those recovered from the recent port, or any who stayed aboard-- I wonder if any of you I do not know are familiar with robotics? Mister Stark, I believe, has mentioned AI in his posting, among others. A comparative discussion on local robotic design practice or the aspects of Programmatic Intelligence might not be particularly useful in rehabilitative efforts-- but still might be a pleasant way to spend an hour or so?

Have so many of the faces I was used to gone? I had not realized how I would feel their loss. But some of my old acquaintances are active, and I am pleased to see you. Doctor, are you--well? [His last network post looked downright miserable.] It has been a period of years, in my timeline, how long last since I was here?

For the many that I see and do not know- hello, I am Doctor Vasilia Aliena of the Auroran Robotics Institute. I spent several months aboard this vessel as an inmate; I return now in hopes that I can be as successful as my wardens.

18 - Future history

I have graduated. [She still sounds kind of surprised about this, a little lost.]

In three days I will be leaving to visit some of my friends who have left the barge, and to return to my household on Aurora to implement what I have learned. In the meantime, I would like to see you again. Many of you have been important to me.

[It's stiff and formal, since she still doesn't know exactly how and what to say, how to convey how important her friends have been.]
