Robots were designed to aid humanity-- as assistance in the home, and the workplace-- as space explorers who could survive harsh conditions, as tireless and unerring workers. The Spacer worlds were terraformed by robots, at a minimum of human suffering-- and of robotic loss, because unlike humans, robots can be designed to an environment. They are our self-created symbiotes, created to complement, not compete with us.
