Madam, I've been directed by my warden to seek work. Since I am already somewhat familiar with the library, I would like to know if there is room for another among your staff. The lab is full and I do not want to work with the ill or with food.

Life to death in an extreme fashion-- and analogously, wholeness to decay. How.. symbolic.

Do we know, then, what the culmination will be? I doubt that it will be sweets, copulation, and alcohol.

From the references veterans have made regarding past Halloweens, I can only assume death, destruction. Possibly invasion. I would take Miss Parker's advice to heart, if you have not already done so.

Against what am I meant to defend myself? Apparitions and plants? Even if I were versed in violence-- I am not-- what would be effective against these strange phenomena?

If in doubt, set it on fire. I'll not deny the existence of magic, not when we have actual wizards and witches on board. But there is very little that cannot be rationally explained in some manner or another. If you don't have the means to make fire, I believe I have a spare box of matches here somewhere.

Also, I'd like you to check in once a day. You needn't say anything beyond your being alive and well.
