"Your fever is 104.9, which is dangerously high. We need to bring your temperature down or we risk doing severe damage to your brain. You feel cold because of the infection. You're not, you're burning up." Martha worked quickly and effectively, putting the ice pack at the back of her patient's neck, then one on her wrist. It was all about the pressure points.

Gloves were quickly pulled on, and Martha swabbed the woman's arm with an iodine swab. Normally it would just be an alcohol wipe, but with Vasilia's immune system she didn't dare.

"Yes, I'm afraid there will be. But it'll only hurt for a second; it'll be like a large pinch, and then we'll start pumping fluids and antibiotics into you. They'll help you feel better."
